Our Pillars

At our core, we live by a simple truth:

Christ-Centered

Everything we do, from our traditional liturgy to our daily lives, revolves around the grace, truth, and lordship of Jesus Christ.

Mission-Driven

We do not exist just for ourselves. We are actively engaged in transforming lives, serving our neighbors, and sharing the Gospel both locally and globally.

One Diverse Family

We are a beautifully diverse, multi-national congregation representing more than six distinct nationalities. No matter where you come from, you have a place at our table.

Rooted in 1 Corinthians 1:23-24, our mission is to preach Christ crucified—the ultimate expression of God's power and wisdom. We are a family-oriented church dedicated to building up believers, serving our community, and sharing the transformative gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

To be a vibrant, Christ-Centered community of believers, a Mission-Driven people, and One Diverse Family standing as a beacon of God’s love. Grounded in the rich beauty of our Anglican heritage, we are dedicated to pursuing evangelism, transforming lives through discipleship, and building faithful Christians. Together, we seek to empower our children and youth for life, expanding His Kingdom through active, loving engagement with our community and the world.

OUR STORY

From Fellowship to a Global Family

“Every great move of God begins with a quiet prayer, a faithful vision, and a longing for home.”

On July 17, 2002, a small circle of Nigerian Anglican residents gathered in Indianapolis, carrying a deep yearning for authentic worship and fellowship. Recognizing their profound hunger for a spiritually vibrant sanctuary that preserved the rich, reverent traditions of their heritage, the Rt. Rev. Peter Adebiyi (then Bishop of Lagos West) gave his apostolic blessing to establish a formal community. By November of that year, Anglican Church of the Resurrection (ACR) celebrated its inaugural service, anchored by a handful of pioneer families who remain core pillars of our ministry to this day.

To shepherd this blossoming flock, Bishop Adebiyi charged the Venerable Amos & Mama Abike Fagbamiye (now Retired Bishop Emeritus, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion) with a sacred task: Shepherd these faithful believers. Protect them from the distractions of the world, nurture the sheep, and build a vibrant environment where they can praise God with the passion, decency, cultural rhythm, and undiluted Anglican liturgy of home.

What began as a small fellowship room dedicated to safeguarding a shared heritage has blossomed into a glorious reflection of the global Body of Christ. Today, the Anglican Church of the Resurrection (ACR) stands as a dynamic, international congregation representing diverse nationalities from multiple continents.

As a cornerstone member of CONNAM (Church of Nigeria, North American Mission), God has blessed our church so abundantly that we have successfully planted multiple sister churches across the Indianapolis area. We have grown into a thriving community that beautifully transcends cultural backgrounds, age, and race—unified under one Lord.

Our legacy is not just written in our history; it is alive in our future. Through close-knit small groups, dynamic Bible studies, and a deeply intentional children's ministry, we strive to be a church where the lonely find family and the searching find hope. We take immense joy in witnessing the fruit of our investment in the next generation. Over the years, ACR has successfully raised and nurtured iconic young professionals, academic achievers, and competitive elite athletes who boldly hold, live, and profess the Christian faith in their generation.

As we look ahead, we remain firmly rooted in the beauty of our Anglican heritage, fiercely committed to our mission, and forever proud to be One Diverse Family expanding the Kingdom of God.

The story of our church is built on extraordinary faith, selfless sacrifice, and unwavering devotion. The Anglican Church of the Resurrection (Indianapolis), together with the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion and the Church of Nigeria Mission in North America, honors the Rt. Rev. Amos & Mama Abike Fagbamiye (Ret.) and their family with enduring, eternal gratitude. Through their tireless ministry, a humble gathering was transformed into a powerful global movement; planting seeds of grace and leaving an indelible legacy that continues to shape lives and mission across North America and beyond.
